Apparently I'm feeling bloggy.
So things that aren't so cranky making:
I have actually done over half the cleaning and all the shopping except for a cake (tomorrow morning's task) and ice (has to wait until party time).
The new Genius feature on iTunes actually does seem to generate some decent playlists (unlike party shuffle which I've never liked). Plus it throws in songs I never knew I had in my library : )
The weather today was gorgeous! 23 or so with mostly blue skies. A little windy but who cares? I was actually walking around in a t-shirt and jeans.

Not right
Yesterday was a beautiful sunny spring (though technically it's still winter) day. The kind that fills you with righteous spring cleaning fever (because apparently what happens when you have flu for a week and then spend the next week with no energy at night once you've made it through work is that your house turns into some sort of toxic waste dump crossed with landfill).
But the cleaning did not happen, because other too sad things did (i will miss you little gorgeous, fluffy, wriggling, couch-sitting, barking up a storm pupster).
And now today, it's all grey and gloomy. Which is not good cleaning weather (don't ask me why). It will be, however, begood, eat a lot of yum cha for Freya's birthday weather.
But first I have to write. And hopefully it will be something fun to chase away the weird dreams about demons I was having all night (which included such gems as someone being hit by a truck and being in pieces - but still talking which should've been a big 'she's a demon' clue - and then while we watched growing black stringy things that connected all the bits back up and climbing up and trying to catch us all once she was back to full demon strength. Ick. And others who the wizards (my dreams are nothing if not adventure packed and strange - Jack Sparrow was one of the wizards) had contained kept pulling lame tricks to try and get us to set them free and then when thwarted would scream and spit fire and stuff. Gross. If the demons in the book I'm thinking about are like that then I'm not sure I want to meet them.

Sunday again
The rain is coming down, the inspiration not so much. The girls are still pondering Wolf 2 apparently. But that's okay, I'm distracting them by working on something else and listening to RWA tapes. Yesterday I even resorted to scrubbing floors - working on the theory that I could possibly bore the muse into playing along - but all I ended up with was clean floors and sore triceps (housework done the old fashioned way is an underrated form of exercise). Luckily the revision/rewrite seems to be something they're happy to play with so we'll go with that until they figure out whatever it is they need to figure out.
But it's been a good weekend in other ways. Catching up, eating out, watching Clark Gable (It happened One Night - cute), watching Jeremy Irons (Brideshead Revisited) and if you think that's a strange combination, then blame Quickflix. Somehow it's Sunday night again already. You'd think three day weekends would last longer but apparently not.
One good thing about Sunday night is that it's only 7 days to I'm off to see Johnny in Pirates 3 in Gold Class. Now that's a Sunday to look forward to!

May musings
Which must start with...MAY??? Already?? Oh dear. That's a third of the year done. Mind you, it's been a pretty exciting start to the year but still, a little slow down wouldn't hurt.
This week I have been writing the scene that won't end. It still won't end and it's kind of annoying. So I am going to work around it and skip to the next bit and come back and see if I can't finish it. I need to do something like 27 pages in the next three days to reach 60k by the end of the weekend. It's a busy weekend, so we'll see.
Apparently May also equals mail because things I've been ordering have been arriving (with more to come...yay!). I found a dress to wear to the GH ceremony so yay. At the moment it fits nicely but I'm joining the general lulu health kick and plan to be lighter in July. Luckily one of the lulus is a fabulous seamstress type as well as a fabulous writer so she can perform adjustments if required (only two months now...I'm so looking forward to it). Keri is back from RT and full of reports of adventures. I wanna go to RT. We shall see about next year.
I've also got my very own copy of Sunshine now, so I can read it again. After I get my pages done. Wednesday night turned into sit down and read Natural Born Charmer night. I blame House for being a repeat (stupid TV programmers) and well, the fact that Susan Elizabeth Phillips is fab.

I spoke too soon
Oh dear, blog about great food one day and the universe smacks you down the next.
Since my post there has been one unmitigated baking disaster demonstrating why you SHOULD NOT LEAVE AN EGG OUT OF THE RECIPE WHEN THERE IS MEANT TO BE ONE (no, I have no idea how I did it, I've never done it before, I got the egg out of the fridge even). Result chocolate sludge rather than muffins.
Then tonight, I was feeling like some noodles. So I thought I go up to my local chinese. Turns out it's changed hands but the new slogan was all about freshness and health, so I thought let's give it a go. The old place was awesome. Great pad thai, great other stuff, huge serves so buy one, get two meals. New place, no pad thai but nice sounding stir fry noodles. Good in theory. Unfortunately very bland in practice. Sigh. I guess I'll be searching elsewhere for my noodle fix.
But in good news, I scored a great new doona cover at the outlet mall. Over 50% off : ) Yay!
And tomorrow is still weekend! Double on the yay!!
