Finishing

The revisions are done! Bring me the finest muffins and bagels in the land. Or, alternatively, Numfar do the dance of joy!

Finishing a book is always a very very good feeling, no matter what draft it is. (For the record, we're on draft 5 of Shadow Kin, so far. Hopefully that number won't go much higher and there will only be line edits, copy edits and galleys to go.)

So hopefully that good feeling will carry me through fighting the crowds to do some Christmas shopping this morning! Then there will be rescuing of my house from it's current revision in full swing way too messy status!

Then I have to haul my brain back (or forward?) to Book 3. Whose hero is going to be lots of fun (In theory...you never quite know what they're going to do once they're given free rein on blank pages belonging to them!)

But for now I shall just bask in being done, done, done!

Done - take two

Let there be rejoicing for the endless revision is done and duly sent to my agent and crit buddies for comments. After which there'll undoubtedly be another pass but let's not talk about that right now.

Right now there is only the righteous joy of done-ness and a distinct urge to sleep for a day or so.

Final page count: 426 (making it officially my longest book ever by one measly page) and just under 90 pages added in the revision (I am coming to accept my write-short, grow in revision process but the volume of growth still startles me...when I wrote shorter stuff, 90 pages was a third of the book!)

I am now declaring a few writing free days and then I shall play with something new...possibly the crazy cinderella story but who knows?

Now all I need to be able to figure out why twitter doesn't like this blog's feed and complete happiness would be mine *g*

Done!

Numfar (well, mostly me but Numfar in my mind) is doing the dance of joy. Because we can hereby declare draft zero done! Woot!

Those of you reading along will no that it's been a long sloggy writing year for me and there were times where I felt like I'd never finish another book. So to anyone feeling like that, I say, hang in there, keep writing, do whatever else you can to feed the muse and the words will turn up one day!

PS Doesn't that progress meter look nice at 100%? Excuse me while I stare at it awhile. And not as short as the last draft zero though I have a feeling it has a lot of growing to do yet. But that's a worry for another day : )

Done like a done thing

Woohoo! Revision is all done! Finished. 425 pages of done-ness. I think I officially deserve the afternoon off unless the girls want to play with something later on. I'm going to mail this sucker to Miriam and worry about what to work on next later on.

Done! All done! Every last bit. Done, done, done. But hopefully not like a dog's dinner. And it's come in at 396 pages which is about spot on! Yay! And possibly la la la!!

A final read through tomorrow for a last typo hunt and then it's off to Miriam. Which might result in still more revisions but for now I am done and can go to SF all clear conscience-ey. Plus, I can stop listening to the five Dixie Chicks songs that have been on constant rotation for this entire revision. I still like them but for now, I'm kind of over them.

Better still, I can start playing with some of the other books that have been slinking around the edges of my mind whining about when it will be their turn. Soundtrack creation. Collaging. Random scene writing. Fun stuff.

And hey, if you recognise the quote above, then you hopefully have been following along with Dr Horrible. Be warned, it is Joss. Who always brings a healthy dose of pain with the funny. Which I'd forgotten till he smacked me in the head with a reminder in Act III.

Today, however, no pain. Only the glorious sensation of done oh done.
